The Australia-based vitamin and herbal player, which was bought by Hong Kong holdings company Biostime for $1.67 billion in late 2015, noted that there is a growing demand across the for high-quality Australian products in the Asian marketplace – not least in China, where the firm is already the number one online vitamin brand.
The launch of its flagship store with Chinese online retail giant Tmall will now provide Chinese customers with direct access to its range of wellness products, said the firm.
“Over the past 12 months we have we have seen a strong demand for our products from Chinese consumers,” said Swisse CEO Radek Sali. “We have really taken the time to get to know our Chinese customer so we can be sure our launch strategy will cater to their individual needs and provide the best access to our brand.”
Sali said the Tmall platform will allow Swisse to not just sell directly to customers, but to ‘also educate and inspire’ consumers on the brand and product.
“It is really the start of our many exciting plans for the region,” he commented.
