HPA-China to host annual sports nutrition summit a day before FIBO China Expo in Shanghai

Health Products Association-China (HPA-China) has announced it will be hosting its annual International Sports Nutrition Industry Summit in Shanghai this year on August 15.

The summit will be held at the Regal International East Asia Hotel in the heart of Shanghai, and is sponsored by Glanbia, GNC and NSF International.

Event partners consist of China Gate Consulting, FIBO China Expo, and Reed-SinoPharm Exhibitions.

Some of the presentations at the event will cover topics such as China's regulatory environment, cross-border e-commerce, market growth and size, consumer trends, fitness industry insights, and manufacturing in China.

The summit is strategically scheduled to take place the day before the three-day FIBO China Expo, to be held at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre in Shanghai.

The expo will feature both local and overseas manufacturers of ingredients and finished products, as well as e-commerce retailers, distributors, fitness centres and government officials.

Sports nutrition has been on the rise in China over the last few years, with a growth rate of 40% and an estimated worth of over US$200m.

The Chinese government's Health China 2030 plan —which has encouraged many to become more physically active — as well as increasing investments from international brands, and Chinese acquisitions of supplement firms, have all contributed to the growth of the sports nutrition industry in China.

HPA-China has thus taken advantage of this to broaden its involvement and increase member benefits in this sector.
