Speaking to us at the recent Vitafoods Asia show in Singapore, Austin Gao, the APAC Sales Director of APAC Business department at Sirio Pharma reveals more about the company’s plans for the facility.

“Our business has expanded, as a result, we do not have enough space to add in extra capacities in Shantou’s existing plants.”

“This is why we acquired a new land in Ma’anshan, Anhui…The total area for this land is 240,000 square metres area.”

“We built up a ten year plan to fill up the whole area.”

The new plant went into operation four months ago. In the initial stage, the plant will focus on the production of gummy supplements.

Some of the gummy variants include liquid filled, centre-filled, swirled, and multi-coloured gummies. There are also vegetarian options, such as gummies made from carrageen and pectin, as well as sugar free and low-sugar options.

The new plant is expected to produce 2.4 billion gummies each year.

With increased production, the firm predicts that its market share for contract services in the US and Europe will grow exponentially in 2019.

Next year, the plant will launch phase two of the investment project, moving on to the production of probiotic products.

Besides detailing the ambitious production plan, Gao also told us consumer trends that were driving supplements consumption in China.
