Powder power: Major brands Nestle Japan and FANCL unveil water-soluble sachet smoothies
Nestle Japan and FANCL have jointly launched two fruit and vegetable smoothies in sachet format, under the Nestle Wellness brand.
The two products are Nestle Wellness Smoothie in kale and fruit as well as carrot and fruit flavours.
The Nestle Wellness range aims to offer solutions to nutritional and health problems, branching out from Nestle’s main food and beverage business.
‘Bifina’ in China: Japan probiotics specialist Morishita Jintan enters market with best-selling brand launch
Japan’s supplement company Morishita Jintan is venturing into the China market with its bestselling probiotic brand ‘Bifina’ via a partnership with China firm Sinopharm Xingsha Pharmaceutical.
‘Bifina’ is said to be Japan’s bestselling probiotic brand for the past 23 years, according to market research firm Fuji Keizai.
The two companies signed a strategic cooperation agreement at the Natural Health and Nutrition Expo held in Guangzhou.
Immune health first: Kirin’s iMUSE brand to relaunch after receiving first immunity FFC claims in Japan
Kirin Holdings and Kirin Beverage are set to relaunch its existing iMUSE brand as a functional food brand in Japan after six of its products received Food with Function Claims (FFC).
The iMUSE brand contains Kirin’s proprietary Lactococcus lactis strain Plasma, with the six products marketed to support immune function in healthy people. These will be launched in November.
Kirin Holdings will launch three supplements, the iMUSE Professional Lactococcus lactis strain Plasma supplement, iMUSE Lactococcus lactis strain Plasma supplement (15-day supply) and iMUSE Lactococcus lactis strain Plasma supplement (7-day supply).
Lutein supplementation improves blue-light blocking ability – 16-week Japan study
A 16-week human clinical trial has shown that lutein supplementation is able to improve the blue-light blocking ability in the eyes by increasing the macular pigment optical density (MPOD).
The MPOD value measures the amount of lutein and zeaxanthin in the brain.
The higher the value, the greater the amount of lutein and zeaxanthin in the brain crucial in filtering blue-light harmful to the eyes.
CBD in Japan: mellow eyes retail expansion for ‘relaxing’ CBD soda and supplements
Japan’s mellow has established its first physical retail presence in Japan after launching its CBD carbonated beverage and supplements online in June this year.
The brand has sold more than 10,000 of its CBD soda and 1,000 CBD supplements on its website since the launch, with sales growing 150% month-on-month.
In September, mellow established a physical retail presence with b8ta, a US-based company which offered retail as a service (RaaS) solution for brands to list their products in physical stores. mellow’s products can be found at the b8ta’s store at Shinjuku Marui Main Building, Tokyo.
