Children’s health focus: BY-HEALTH’s probiotics cooperation with Spanish firm Biosearch to explore multi-strain concept

Chinese nutraceutical firm BY-HEALTH is expanding its probiotics product portfolio for children's health through its partnership with Spanish nutraceutical ingredient supplier Biosearch.

The two signed an R&D agreement and a new contract for the supply of strains from Biosearch’s proprietary portfolio – Hereditum – a range of probiotics isolated from the human breast milk.

Currently, the probiotics from the portfolio address issues such as colic, respiratory infections, preventing mastitis, and improving oral, digestive, and immune health.

Ayurveda cannabis firm to focus on chronic pain relief solutions after launching product for menstrual cramps

The Indian firm behind an ayurvedic cannabis product for alleviating menstrual cramps has unveiled plans on expanding its product range to cover chronic pain relief.

This could cover pain relief for chronic issues such as arthritis and joint pain, founder Abhishek Mohan told NutraIngredients-Asia.

The plan is to launch one to two new ayurvedic cannabis product every quarter.

Tablet preservation tech: FANCL to launch chewable immunity supplement using new innovation

FANCL has launched a new immune supplement that uses technology to protect tablets from premature disintegration during the production and storage process.

The technology is used in the chewable tablet supplement, known as Meneki Support (Immunity Support), Toshihiro Tomita from the public relations department, FANCL told NutraIngredients-Asia.

The technology, which the company spent about a year developing, can be applied to delivering a wide range of nutrients in the chewable tablet form, Tomita said.

Immune health: Stable, strong demand expected

Immune health will continue to see a stable and strong consumer demand in the next year, as consumers continue to prioritise immunity amid the pandemic.

This is according to GO Healthy, which said it saw a significant lift in the sales of its immune products last year. Examples include its GO Vitamin C, GO Vitamin D3 and GO Zinc Complex products. 

Infant formula for Chinese babies: H&H studying link between breast milk and infant gut microbiome

H&H is studying the link between human breast milk and infants’ growth outcomes in China as part of its R&D efforts.

One of its latest findings showed that key nutrients in mothers’ breast milk will decrease significantly in the first three months of lactation, and that the mothers’ BMIs could affect the composition of nutrients.

For instance, mothers with a higher BMI have a higher concentration of osteopontin (OPN), energy, fat, protein, and n-6 PUFA in their breast milk as compared to those with a lower BMI.
