Bringing European standards to Vietnam: NutiFood launches Sweden-formulated kids tonic drinks for brain, height growth
The tonic drinks in RTD carton packs come in three different SKUs with different ingredients and flavours.
All are fortified with vitamin B1, B5, B6, and taurine to support brain development and functions.
Vitamin D3, K2, Zinc, and calcium are also added to strengthen bone and optimize growth height.
Deputy general director in marketing, Vo Hoang Anh, told NutraIngredients-Asia that the products have been developed with NuVi Power – the company’s exclusive formula made by NutiFood Nutrition Institute in Sweden (NNRIS).
“This is a dual formula providing nutrients and energy for kids to study and play,” he said.

The NNRIS is set up only in April, and the aim is for NutiFood to work with world-leading scientists and nutritionists and apply European nutrition solutions to raise nutrition outcomes in the local Vietnamese population.
Earlier in 2019, the company set up a dairy factory in Sweden for manufacturing infant formula, baby cereals, organic sterilised fresh milk, and canned organic powdered milk tin cans. The products are meant for global distribution.
NutiFood has several nutrition brands catered to infants, toddlers, children, general foods, and specialised nutrition for elderly, diabetic individuals.
Examples include GrowPLUS+ for largely targeted at malnourished and stunted children, Nuti IQ for brain development, Nuvita for height growth, and NuCalci for preventing osteoporosis.
Another example of NutiFood’s recent partnership with European nutrition firms is its partnership with German-firm BASF in 2018.
The aim is to develop nutrition products containing the human oligosaccharides (HMOs) 2’-fucosyllactose (2’FL).
NutiFood also signed a partnership with DuPont in probiotics research linked to digestion and immunity last year.
According to Vietnam’s deputy minister of health, the country’s malnutrition rate stands at 23.2 per cent while the rate of obesity and overweight rate is also increasing quickly, especially in the urban areas. The problem of micronutrient deficiency has also not improved.
This year, NutiFood also signed a communication agreement with Vietnam’s Ministry of Health, seven medical associations, and five medicine and pharmacy universities as part of its plans to bring European nutrition solutions suitable for application into Vietnam.
Brain and height
The new NuVi series of tonic drinks for kids are aimed at promoting brain development and height growth.
All are milk-based products with three different flavours, namely a cocoa jelly malt drink, a strawberry, peach, apple drinking yogurt, and orange and tropical fruit milkshake.
“The NuVi cocoa jelly malt drink is a special combination of tasty cocoa, nutrition from malt and chunky jelly bricks which are kids’ favourites.
“The NuVi strawberry drinking yogurt is made from natural fermented milk well-blended with strawberry juice,” Vo said.
The products are manufactured using aseptic carton packaging firm SIG’s drinkplus technology, in which beverages containing up to 10 per cent particulates could be aseptically filled in carton packs. In the case of the NuVi products, the particulates added into the products are nata-de-coco bits and jelly chunks.
