NutraIngredients-Asia is hosting a webinar that looks at the latest research findings and new product development opportunities in the metabolic health and nutrition space.

Title “The latest in APAC’s metabolic health landscape”, the editorial webinar will be broadcasted on February 20 (Thursday) at 3pm Singapore time.

Register for free now to attend the webinar which will also be available on demand after the broadcast.

From blood sugar management to weight control, the metabolic health space is highly dynamic with vast opportunities for new product development and research.

Metabolic health issues such as obesity and diabetes are also health problems that governments across the region have been trying to tackle - and the effects could trickle down to the industry as well.

For instance, with the anticipation of a sugar tax in Indonesia, herbal manufacturer Sido Muncul has reformulated its flagship product Tolak Angin used traditionally for common cold and bloating into a sugar-free version.

The Vietnamese government last year also proposed a 10 per cent tax for sugar-sweetened beverages while Singapore started the “war on diabetes” since 2016.

Further afield in the US, the heightened awareness and use of GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) medications for weight management has led to companies like Nestle designing nutrition products to support the needs of consumers on GLP-1 medications.

There are also firms across the APAC region formulating nutraceuticals that claim to work in the same pathway as GLP-1 for weight management - but without causing the side-effects of GLP-1 medications.

Some notable examples is the Korean firm CKD Healthcare with its product GLPitDiet.

This webinar will therefore discuss the latest research findings in the metabolic health space, direction for new research, common consumer concerns around metabolic health, trending ingredients and opportunities for new research and product development.
